Surprise of the Day: General Motors Has Another Mass Recall
To infinity and beyond as General Motors continues to add to it's list of ever expanding recalls, adding another 312,280 vehicles worldwide, with another 269,041 in the US alone, as they embelish their new catch phrase "Bring it Back."
Lets get started:
Recall: Ignition recall that allows the key to be removed from the car even when it is not in the OFF position. Two crashes and one injury has resulted from this issue and replacements are being made to the ignition cylinder and keys. This recall affects 215,243 units global, and 202,115 in the US.
Affected Models: Saturn Vue 2002-2004
Recall: It's possible for the lap belt pretensioner to retract but not lock, which could increase occupent movement during a crash. This recall is affecting 72,826 models worldwide, 48,059 of which are in the US. Both front, outboard lap belt pretensioners are beign replaced, and a halt has been placed on the sales of these vechicles until the issue has been fixed in all inventory models.
Affected Models: 2013 Cadillac ATS four-door sedan, 2013 Buick Encore, 2013 Chevy Trax
Recall: Storage Compartment Latch needs to be repaired in affected vehicles beause teh latch could relase or open during a rear collision. Dealers are replacing the latch in both consumer owned and inventory cars worldwide, totaling 15,386 in total, 14,940 of which are in the US. Sales are halted unitl these models have been fixed.
Affected Models: 2014-2015 Chevrolet Impala LT & LTZ models
Recall: The brake fluid in affected vehicles can eventually cause longer pedal travel adn reduced braking effectiveness adn needs to be replaced in 1,968 cars.
Affected Models: In the US - 2009-2010 Chevrolet Aveo, 2009 Pontiac G3, and in Canada -the 2007 Chevy Optra, 2009 Pontiac Wave
Recall: The bolts that attach the left and right lower control arms may not have been tightented to spec, affecting 3,110 units.
Affected Models: 2014 Chevy Spark
Recall: Front light issues with affected models causing another 3,624 vehicles to be recalled.
Affected Models: 2013-2014 Cadillac ATS
