Pixar Animation Studios Unveils Life-Size Lightning McQueen at the Detroit Auto Show
In promotion for the third installment of their animated feature Cars to hit theaters June 16th, Pixar unveils a life-size Lightning McQueen at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show.
Incase you were wondering, he's just as adorable in person as he is on the big screen, especially with his signature "Buzz Light Year" tires!
Now I'll be the first to admit that I loved the first Cars movie. It was really creative and ingenious with a wonderful voiceover cast, including Jeremy Piven, playing a role familiar to him as America's favorite "talent agent". But the second installment... not so much. Which sometimes sequels tend to do, even in animated features, except for Shrek II... that one was by far my favorite of the bunch... the third was a litlte bit awful, and the fourth definitely had some redeeming qualities. Anyway, we're looking forward to the next film to hit the franchise, in theaters June 16th.
Although, to be completely honest, what we'd really like to see is this life size Lightning McQueen enter a real Nascar race. I guarentee attendance would skyrocket that year... to infinity and beyond.
Here you can check out the trailer... if we had to guess, we're going to say that McQueen gets into a life-threatening, career ending crash, where he decides to move away from the sport of car racing, and tries out a few new automotive career choices... But then he gets pulled back into the sport as a Cinderella Story to finally win that Piston Cup that escaped him in the original Cars movie. Just a hunch. I guess we'll find out this summer!
