GM recalls 1.54 Million Cars and Trucks

Better safe than sorry, General Motors, already in the hot seat for a recent switch recall resulting in 12 deaths and 31 crashes affecting over 1.62 million vehicles, is now recalling almost an additional 2 million for three new safety issues.  

Here are all of the recent recalls below with affected years and models: 

Faulty Seat-mounted Side Airbags - GM says if the air-bag warning light goes on, and the owner doesn't take the car in, the wiring will fail and the air bags won't work when needed. 

Affected Years & Models: 

2009-2013 Chevrolet Traverse 

2008-2013 Buick Enclave 

2008-2013 GMC Acadia 

2008-2010 Saturn Outlook

 

Issues with a plug in the brake system - noted to cause corrosion, overheating and a possible engine-compartment fire. 

Affected Years & Models: 

2013 & 2014 Cadillac XTS full sized sedans

 

Passenger Side Airbags not meeting federal standards - Unbelted front passengers can suffer head injuries because the material covering the passenger-side air bag.  

Affected Years & Models:  

2009 thru 2014 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana Commercial Vans

 

Ignition Switch Recall: The switch can accidentally be taken out of the "run" position when the car is being driven.  When this happens, the car's engine shut off, and the power brakes, steering, and airbags stop working.   

Affected Years & Models:

2003 thru 2007 Chevrolet Cobalts

2003 thru 2007 Pontiac G5

2003 thru 2007 Saturn Ions (coupes & sedans)

2006 thru 2007 Chevrolet HHRs

2006 thru 2007 Pontiac Solstices

2006 thru 2007 Saturn Sky
