BMW Deflates with their latest Recall
BMW is recalling about 600k 3-series and M3 models from 2000 to 2006 due to an airbag defect in the passenger side that could produce internal pressure, causing the inflator to rupture on deployment. BMW reports that in the event of a crash, metal fragments could injure the passenger.
Affected Models:
2000-2005 3-series sedan
2000-2006 3-series coupe
2000-2005 3-series sports wagon
2000-2006 3-series convertible
2001-2006 M3 coupe
2001-2006 M3 convertible
BMW will be notifying dealers and owners in August about the recall, and replacement will begin in October. Takata, the same airbag supplier responsible for Subaru's latest recall last week is responsible for this as well.
