Aston Martin's DB11 is Sexier than any Bond Girl

I have a soft spot for Aston Martin.  Something about those two little wings and an obnoxiously expensive, super luxurious, British Grand Tourer has always brought a twinkle to my eye.   You can’t drive one and not immediately feel like James Bond behind the wheel.  Upon it’s unveiling, Aston Martin’s Chief Executive, Andy Palmer called it, “ not only the most important car that Aston Martin has launched in recent history, but in its 103 year existence.   Well, Andy, those are some big shoes to fill, but with design director Marek Reichman behind the wheel, we had very high expectations… that were delivered on a sliver platter.  Sparkling sliver… more of a metallic slate grey if you will.

The Aston Martin DB11 is as sexy as, if not more completely breathtaking then all 75+ of 007’s elusive and stunning “Bond Girls”.    Under the hood she has a 5.2-liter V12 with two Mitsubishi Heavy Industries twin-scroll turbocharges with water-to-air inlet-charge coolers.  600 hp at 6,500 rpm and 516 lb-ft torque, she’ll blow your top from zero to sixty in 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 200 mph, fast enough to get you away from any spies or double agents.  The DB11 is rear-wheel-drive with a ZF eight-speed automatic tranny, and a mechanical limited-slip differential.

Theres endless curves in effect here to keep her on the road.  The front wheel arches push high-pressure air through the inner wing vents and out via the body slats to reduce front-end lift. It's called Curlique because of the way the air curls through the wheel arch. There's also a virtual trunk spoiler, which takes high pressure wind flow from the back of the rear window, pushes it through the rear of the trunk and jets it up into the air stream travelling over the car to reduce rear lift. In addition, at speeds above 96 mph, a 1.8-inch-high Gurney flap is automatically deployed on the trunk edge.

There is no want for secret agent luxury, comfort and technology on the inside.  With an interior design intentionally masking that of high end furniture you’ll find remarkable upholstery and wood finishes everywhere.  Bang & Olufsen continues its partnership, adding the top-of-the-line optional in-car entertainment, and upgraded electronics include an auto parking system with a 360-degree bird’s-eye-view camera system.

Aston Martin’s David Brown line is retailing the DB11, it’s 10th installment (for some reason they skipped #8), for $211,995.  The extra $11,995 is for Andy Palmer’s to sign off on each of these cars with his signature engraved on the door kick plate.  Personally, we’d rather have Sean Connery’s signature, but we’ll take it.
