Sleekness and speed - along with a big order of muscle and hard work was served up again and again in new models unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Trucks and SUVs took a lot of headlines but we found some sweet cars, including one that will thrill chase scene fans.  Here’s a look at seven of our favorites:

Lexus LF-1 Limitless

This concept luxury crossover is called Limitless because its power train could be anything – from fuel cell to hybrid to electric and more. Lexis has not committed to producing the LF-1 yet but its gleaming rose-copper flowing body and “chauffeur driving” option drew plenty of attention from auto insiders and the media in Detroit.  CNET called it “the most daring Lexus in quite some time.”

2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt

Fifty years ago, Steve McQueen drove a green Mustang in the movie Bullitt, which included a long, crazy chase through San Francisco. Now, Ford is bringing back a limited edition model with a 5.0 liter V8 engine. Packing 475 horsepower, this Bullitt boasts top speeds of 163 miles an hour - 8 mph faster than its latest Mustang GT, Ford said.  Debuting this summer, the Bullitt has a 6-speed manual transmission with a white cue ball shift knob, a link to its Hollywood past.  This Mustang will appear this summer without the well-known pony galloping on the grill.  Car and Driver says this speed-demon will cost a few thousand more than the $43,990 its quick cousin the Mustang GT Premium fetches.

Infiniti Q-Inspiration

The sleek yet muscular concept car looked ready to drive along a coastal highway or head Up North for a weekend, as Michigan residents say.  Yet Infiniti says it’s a canvas to show off future technologies and won’t be offered for sale.  Autoweek however, says it could open doors to more large luxury sedans from Infiniti.  The concept is powered with a VC-turbo powertrain with hybrid or diesel options, and drivers may enjoy the view with a semi-autonomous ProPilot system.

Honda Insight

Shown as a prototype, this third generation hybrid sedan will go on sale quite soon as Honda’s fifth electric or hybrid vehicle. CNET suggests it could challenge the Toyota Prius with its promised 50 miles and up per gallon combined city / highway mileage. With a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine,  an electric propulsion motor and lithium-ion battery pack, the Insight is expected to arrive in dealer showrooms later this year.

Moms and Dads who want to drive home in a tech-savvy SUV will look twice at at Ford’s new Edge when it arrives in showrooms in the summer. Ford calls it “Ford’s smartest SUV ever,” with collision warning, lane centering and a host of other equipment.  Shown in a beautiful blue, this brawny and brainy vehicle will arrive with a 2.0 liter Ecoboost, V6 engine and other specs are not yet disclosed.

2019 Ford Ranger

In the promotional video in Detroit, the new Ranger pickup glides by a brown bear and up a snowy, steep trail, emerging triumphant and unscathed. This four-door midsize truck, back as a 2019 model in the U.S. after a seven year hiatus, comes with a 2.3 liter turbo four cylinder powertrain. It offers the FX4 off-road package with enhanced traction, which was on display in Detroit. Because of its array of safety and entertainment equipment, FoxNews dubbed it a “high tech little truck.”

2019 Chevrolet Silverado

As Chevrolet starts a second century of selling trucks, it introduces a redesigned full-sized, full range of options pickup, the Silverado.  This offers six engine / transmission options including gas and diesel options such as the 6.2 liter V-8 powertrain.  Despite a 3.9 inch increase in wheel base, the Silverado weighs around 450 pounds less than its predecessor, though Chevrolet says it retains a strong steel frame and truck bed.

Find Quality Touch Up Paint

Order touch up paint on-line!

All touch up paint is not created equal! The generic paints you buy at auto part stores will likely NOT match your vehicle’s paint exactly. Believe it or not, even the OEM dealers usually stock “close enough” colors. We recommend PaintScratch.com since their high quality paint is freshly made, they custom mix each order for you upon receipt, and they offer a color match guarantee.
